Community Services and Allied Health
Bendigo Health offers students a 3 day Community Services and Allied Health placement rotating one day a week in the following departments: Transition Care Program (TCP), Outpatient Rehabilitation Services (OPRS) and Hospital Admissions and Risk Program (HARP)
TCP - provides short term care to help with the functioning and independence of aged persons or people with age related illnesses after their hospital stay. TCP provide patients with a package of services that include low intensity therapy (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) as well as social work, nursing support and personal care.
OPRS - provide outpatient rehabilitation to children and adults in the Bendigo and Northern Victorian Region. Rehabilitation is time limited and goal orientated and aimed at maximising potential and quality of life either at Bendigo Health or in the clients home. Clients can receive a variety of services including: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Nursing, Podiatry, Exercise Psychology and Dietetics these services are client focused to cater for complex rehabilitation needs.
HARP – HARP provide a service to support people with chronic and complex illness to reduce avoidable hospital admissions and emergency department use whilst improving quality of life. The HARP team are made up of a number of health professionals, including specialist Nursing, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers and Podiatrists.
